Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryDirected by: Monalisa Galang
For the first time in a decade, Willy Wonka, the reclusive and eccentric chocolate maker, is opening his doors to the public--well, five members of the public to be exact. The lucky five who find a Golden Ticket in their Wonka chocolate bars will receive a private tour of the factory, given by Mr. Wonka himself.CHILDREN ON STAGE TO PRESENT CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY GARLAND, TEXAS – Garland Civic Theatre’s Children On Stage division will present “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Richard R. George has adapted the play from the fantasy by Roald Dahl. The director of this production will be Monalisa Galang and set, lights, and costumes will be by Clare Floyd DeVries, Neale Whitmore, and Julie Penkava. Joann Traylor, president of the GCT Board of Directors, is the stage manager for the production. Matthew McNeill will be the narrator, Gus Renaud will appear as Willy Wonka, and Michael Gohlke will be Charlie. Also included in the cast of youngsters 8 to 18 are Heather Banning, Whitnee Bomkamp, Laryssa Bonacquisti, Jojo Burns, Micah Figueroa, Lauryn Garner, Leslie Garner, Kit Givens, Rachel Granville, Niq Hale, Rhett Hanscom, Tiffany Head, Ally Karpel, Kylie Lane Mathews, Matt Melone, John Michael Miller, Kathryn Myers, Logan Padon, Alexis Phillips, Devin Rawls, Jay Reavis, Zoe Settle, Pique Shankle, Jennifer Sims, Madeline Steiner, Cesar Van Cleave, Claire Whatley, and Kyle Wisdom. For young Charlie Bucket, this a dream come true. When he finds a dollar bill in the street, he can't help but buy two Wonka's Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delights--even though his impoverished family could certainly use the extra dollar for food. But as Charlie unwraps the second chocolate bar, he sees the glimmer of gold just under the wrapper! The very next day, Charlie, along with his unworthy fellow winners Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Augustus Gloop, steps through the factory gates to discover whether or not the rumors surrounding the Chocolate Factory and its mysterious owner are true. Audiences will join Charlie Bucket in his adventurous tour of Willy Wonka’s world-famous chocolate factory. They will see Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Grandpa George, Grandma Georgina, and Willy Wonka as they discover the true meaning of teamwork, self-confidence and self-esteem. Performances for school field trips will be November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Teachers may make reservations on line at garlandcivictheatre.org. Public performances are scheduled for November 5th at 2:00 PM and 7:30 Pm and November 6th at 2:00 PM. All performances will be in the main theatre at Granville Arts Center, Austin and Fifth Street, Garland, Texas. Tickets for adults are $10.00 and for students, 18 and under, $7.00.
